One dead after motorcycle accident on the North Shore

A 62-year-old man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash on Highway 61 near Silver Bay on Sunday morning, July 28.

According to the State Patrol accident report, the driver was traveling south on Highway 61 when his motorcycle left the road and went into a ditch. He struck a traffic sign and bushes around 11 a.m. and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said the man was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.

Responding agencies include the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, Lake County EMS, Lake County Rescue and the Minnesota DNR.
