3 people arrested for trespassing near Elmore County Jail

The Alabama Department of Corrections has arrested three people for trespassing.

ADOC officials said the suspects were arrested on July 13 on state property near the Elmore Correctional Facility. During the pursuit of the intruders, two packages containing contraband were seized.

Officers arrested Christopher Smith and Indya Harris. Both were charged with possession of marijuana and promoting prison contraband I and II. The third suspect, a minor, was released to a family member.

Smith and Harris are in custody at the Elmore County Jail.

ADOC says the Law Enforcement Services Division is investigating and additional charges may be filed.
