This List of Bills’ “Biggest Needs” Before Training Camp Is Ridiculous

Football fans should be excited that NFL training camp is about to begin. The Buffalo Bills will be on the field at St. John Fisher University on Wednesday, July 24. Bills fans will have the opportunity to do their own scouting, watch rookies adjust to the professional level, and see how the team will fare with all the changes it has undergone this past offseason.

There are weaknesses on every team in the league. No team is perfect from top to bottom. While some teams stand out more than others in terms of weaknesses, every team has room for improvement at a position. The Bills certainly have their strengths, but they certainly have weaknesses, but there is debate as to which positions need the most improvement. Some might say that receiver stands out the most because of who the Bills lost and what they got back. Some might even say that more depth needs to be added to the defensive line.

One area of the roster that is strong heading into 2024 is the offensive line, but CBS Sports’ Josh Edwards seems to think differently.

Edwards posted an article about the biggest needs of AFC teams heading into the season and Edwards says Buffalo’s biggest need is interior offensive line help.

Edwards mentions that Connor McGovern will be moving from left guard to center now that Mitch Morse has left Buffalo. Additionally, the Bills re-signed David Edwards to a two-year deal, who was their center last season and will now play guard. Overall, it seems like those moves are why the interior offensive line was mentioned. Edwards also mentioned that it was either between that unit or at cornerback.

The offensive line is arguably the best unit the Bills have at their disposal heading into training camp. Josh Allen had the best offensive line of his career last year, and James Cook managed to rush for over 1,000 yards in his first year as a full-time starter. From left to right, the Bills will have Dion Dawkins, David Edwards, Connor McGovern, O’Cyrus Torrence and Spencer Brown. Three starters will play the same position, one will switch positions and one will return to the position he played while with the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s completely false to say that the Bills’ biggest need is an interior offensive line. They might be able to add more depth for training camp, but as far as starting material goes, the Bills are ready.
