Local security authorities announce the number of incidents related to the Independence Day celebrations.

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Several events were held in the Fountain City to celebrate Independence Day. Here’s what local security officials are saying about it.

Columbus Police received a total of 557 calls and made approximately 24 arrests. Police reported one case of drunk driving on July 4.

The Ministry of Natural Resources is reporting an incident of boating under the influence of alcohol, or BUI.

Only three patients were reportedly treated for fireworks-related injuries in Piedmont Columbus Regional Hospital’s three emergency rooms.
