PITTSBURG COUNTY, Oklahoma. –

According to authorities, a California man died in a traffic accident in Pittsburg County on Thursday.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said Charles Howe Jr. died at the scene of the crash on US-69 near McAlester.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. south of McAlester when Howe Jr. failed to yield the right of way while turning onto the highway, according to OHP.

OHP said he crossed into the northbound lanes and was struck by another vehicle. The driver of that vehicle was treated and released from the hospital.
