15-year-old girl in UP raped by school principal and attempts suicide: police

A 15-year-old girl who was allegedly raped by her school principal attempted to commit suicide by jumping in front of a freight train on Saturday, police said.

The girl was admitted to the district hospital in serious condition, it was said.

DK Mishra is posted as the Principal of Rambali Sharma Saraswati Bal Mandir School in Bharwari Municipal Council district under Kokhraj police station jurisdiction.

Four days ago, a video went viral on social media showing the school principal in an indecent state along with the girl who lives in a village near the police station.

After investigating the viral video, a case was filed against the school principal based on the complaint of the victim’s family.

The case was registered under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 323 (punishment for wilful causing hurt), 504 (intentionally insulting with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC, IT Act and POCSO Act.

Circle Collector Sirathu Awadhesh Kumar Vishwakarma formed a team to investigate the case and arrest the accused.

Vishwakarma said the teenager attempted suicide on Saturday by jumping in front of a goods train on the Delhi-Howrah railway line.

The young girl was seriously injured after being hit by the train. Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and took her to the district hospital for treatment.

He said that according to family members, the girl attempted suicide because she was upset about the offensive video going viral.
