HOUSTON (KIAH) – This year, Houston Happens is celebrating Pride Month by highlighting members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their allies in a photo campaign. The campaign is organized by Show Your Pride and is in its second year. Our guests will share their stories and discuss the importance of celebrating Pride Month.

Two key players, Andrew Scoggin and Abigail Bensman, talk about the show’s cultural impact. Plus, we follow BMX freestyle rider Nick Bruce’s journey to Paris for the upcoming 2024 Olympic Games. This and much more in today’s show. Look at!


Space to move with IFAW

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by climate news, we have a glimmer of hope for you today. Hairspray at the Hobby Center

Tony Award-winning musical theater phenomenon HAIRSPRAY is back on tour and is making a stop right here in Houston at the Hobby Center. We are joined by two of the actors who have ties to Texas: Andrew Scoggin And Abigail Bensman. Scoggin is a Houston native and plays Wilbur Turnblad, a role he originated on Broadway. Bensman is a Dallas native and stars as Amber Von Tussle, a role she originated during the first national tour. Both actors are excited to perform in their home country.

This week we feature the BMX freestyle rider Nick Bruce. He and his fellow riders are qualifying for the Olympics, but that’s not all Bruce and his family are preparing for this summer.
