summer and sun, Buffalo, New York

Summer, sun, big blue skies: we have entered my favorite time of the year. Yes, yes, I know that come mid-August I’ll be camping out in the dairy section of my local Sam’s Club to try to fight off the last hot flash while it’s 110 degrees outside. As crazy as it sounds, I much prefer summer to winter.

I don’t know how people who live in the Northeast deal with winters. Aside from the cold, the days are, for lack of a better description, gray. Winter seems to last forever. There is no doubt that I would lose my mind if I lived in this part of the country.

Unless that’s the case, I lived in the house featured in this week’s column. It’s summer and sunshine 24/7/365, baby!

Yeah baby, that’s what I’m talking about here.

I love this picture. One of these houses is not like the others. This absolutely charming two bedroom, one bathroom home is located at 54 Clifford Street, Buffalo, New York. The house is just over 1,600 square feet. The owners are asking $195,900.

One thing I want to make sure you understand is that this house is in Buffalo. Buffalo!!! They experience some of the worst winters ever. Even their summers have a tinge of gray. This house is a beacon of summer and sunshine. I digress.

I give you entry and stay. Summer and sun all year round.

Aside from the metal mannequin, the dining room is just as fun as the living room and the light fixture resembles the baby Superman spaceship he traveled in to reach Earth when Krypton was destroyed.

Mmm, mmm, mmm. I love me some Christopher Reeve. He is my little ray of summer and sunshine.

The kitchen continues the summer and sun motif.

The floor might be a little too big, I know. But when you live in a city that ranks 10th coldest in the country and gets over 95 inches of snow per year, I think this flooring choice is more than acceptable. The description I read of Buffalo said that when it’s not snowing, it’s raining and gray. They actually used the word “gray”.

Okay, the room is weird. These beds can accommodate a ton of people and then you have the sofa bed type to boot. I get it, it’s cold and you’ll stay warmer if everyone is together but this is just weird. Just thinking that there are enough people in this house to fill these beds gives me a hot flash. This reminds me that I have to go make my list for Sam’s Club.
