9-1-1 exceeds expectations with a bee-nado, but there’s one thing I just can’t take from the Season 8 premiere

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for the Season 8 premiere 9-1-1called “buzzkill.”

The eighth season of 9-1-1 (which is only the second second on ABC after the move from Fox) has begun on the 2024 TV schedule, and promos for the premiere weren’t shy about hyping up the bee-nado on its way to Los Angeles. The bee nado was… well, pretty, as it sounds in the post-Sharknado I was in the pop culture zeitgeist and it was actually a lot more exciting than I expected. “Buzzkill” was a fun way to spend a primetime hour, but there’s one element to the episode that kills my enthusiasm.
