Cats Collide: UH Women’s Soccer Team Loses to Sam Houston

The Houston women’s soccer team and Sam Houston collided at Carl Lewis International Complex on Sunday evening in the Cougars’ first home game of the season. UH looked to bounce back after losing their season opener to 17th-ranked Texas.

In the end, Sam Houston emerged victorious as they won 3-1.

THE The Bearkats were unfazed and got back into the game in the 29th minute thanks to a goal from freshman forward Gabrielle Williams leads 1-1 at halftime.

In the second half, despite a 14-4 better shooting performance than Sam Houston and Having five corners, Houston was unable to put the ball in the back of the net the net, thanks in large part to Bearkat’s senior goalie Cassia Souza, who made eight saves in the match.

A minute later, Sam Houston sophomore Jasmine Dybala scored on a Sam Houston corner kick to make it 3-1 and put the game to bed.

The Cougars will look to end their rough start to the season when They face the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks at home on August 22.
