Atlanta has some great public pools, in addition to swimming lakes and beaches near Atlanta that are fun for families and perfect for summer temperatures. Many of these local pools have diving boards, water slides, and splash pads for toddlers, making them more appealing than typical neighborhood swim/tennis pools. And did you know that some Atlanta hotel pools allow you to swim without requiring an overnight stay?! Several Atlanta hotels offer day passes to enjoy the chic amenities.

Fun Public Pools Near Atlanta

1. Piedmont Park Aquatic Center – Midtown

This Piedmont Park staple has been a favorite since the original bathhouse was built in 1911. Families enjoy a large pool with beach entry, open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Visitors pay $5 per person to access the pool or show up from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays in the summer to swim for free. The swimming pool is open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and weekends from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., until August 1, then weekdays from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

2. Wills Park Pool – Alpharetta

The Wills Park pool features two diving boards (one high), a water slide, a shallow play area with interactive features, and a splash pad. Alpharetta residents pay $5 and non-residents pay $8. The pool is open from Memorial Day until classes begin in Fulton County Schools (August 5 for 2024); After this date, the pool is open on weekends only until Labor Day. Hours vary.

3. Cherokee County Aquatic Center – Canton

Families have a blast at this public aquatic center, which is more like a mini water park, called Oasis Outdoor Pool. Visitors can ride two water slides, swim in the lazy river and play on the water playground. Rates vary from $6 to $9 depending on residence and age. Hours vary daily and the property closes for special events, so check the website before you go.

4. Seven Springs Water Park – Powder Springs

Seven Springs Water Park features a public outdoor swimming pool with shallow entry and a water park with slides, a lazy river and a splash pad. The facility is open Memorial Day through July 28, then switches to weekends only through Labor Day. Cobb County residents pay $4 per child/$6 per adult. Visitors choose from two sessions: 12 p.m.-3 p.m. or 4 p.m.-7 p.m.

5. Tolleson Park Pool – Smyrna

The Tolleson Park pool has two diving boards and a spray court. Prices are $7 per adult and $5 per child. The swimming pool is open weekdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and weekends from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Once school starts in Cobb County (August 1 for 2024), the pool stay opens on weekends only.

6. Roswell Area Park Pool – Roswell

This Olympic-sized pool, located in Roswell’s premier park, features two diving boards, a children’s splash pool, and a mushroom waterfall. Roswell residents pay $3 for entry while non-residents pay $5. Pool hours vary daily and are closed on Thursdays.

7. Grant Park Pool – Atlanta

The pool at Grant Park is big, close to Zoo Atlanta, and best of all, FREE! Families cool off at this public Atlanta pool from 12:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day (closed Mondays and Tuesdays). The pool moves to evening and weekend hours when school starts in August.

8. Chastain Park Athletic Club Pool – Buckhead

You do not need to be a member of the Chastain Park Athletic Club to use its pool. Guests pay $5 per person to cool off in the outdoor pool or indoor section. The property even offers free swimming time from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Check the website during hours as they change daily, and some times are for members only. For 2024, the swimming pool is open from May 13 to September 8.

9. Cumming Aquatic Center – Cumming

Children of all ages splash and play in the outdoor leisure pool at Cumming Aquatic Center. The site has a water slide, a lazy river and a water play area. Visitors pay $7 per child and $8 per adult. The outdoor leisure pool opens in early May and closes after Labor Day. Check the website during hours as the schedule varies during school hours.

10. Garden Hills Pool – Buckhead

Families enjoy this large Buckhead pool for $5 per person. Garden Hills offers a long swimming season, from May to September! The property blocks certain hours for members, so be sure to check public hours on the pool’s website.

11. Candler Park Pool – Little Five Points

This urban pool is a great option for cooling off this summer, especially because it offers FREE entry. The pool, located in Candler Park, is open Friday through Tuesday in the summer from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

12. Kelley Cofer Pool – Tucker

This large swimming pool is a pleasant place to beat the heat in summer. Prime? It has a super fun diving board! Guests 17 and under are $3 and guests 18 and over are $5. The Kelley Cofer swimming pool is open Tuesday to Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. (closed Monday). Hours and opening days change after August 4.

13. Rosenfeld Pool – Tucker

Another of Tucker’s beautiful public pools, Rosenfeld is located in a shaded park and features a fun, winding slide. Like Kelly Cofer, prices are $3 for children 17 and under and $5 for those 18 and over. Its hours are also the same, except that it is closed on Wednesdays.

14. Milton Municipal Swimming Pool – Milton

The public can enjoy this Olympic-sized swimming pool, equipped with a paddling pool and mushroom waterfalls for the youngest. It is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, with staggered hours as Fulton County starts school (August 5 for 2024). During the summer, the swimming pool is open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The pool costs $5 for Milton residents and $7.50 for non-residents. ​
