Trump’s spiritual advisor Robert Morris admits sexual abuse

A priest Donald Trump A man once described as a “spiritual advisor” admitted to “inappropriate sexual behavior” toward a 12-year-old girl after being publicly accused of sexual assault.

Cindy Clemshire The Wartburg Watch said in a report last week that Robert MorrisPastor of the Gateway Church in Texas, abused her when she was 12 and he was 20. She said the abuse continued for years, and Morris reportedly resigned from his position at the time after she told a friend.

In statements to The Christian Post, Morris admitted to sexually abusing Clemishire, describing it as “kissing and petting.”

“When I was in my early twenties, I was involved in inappropriate sexual conduct with a young lady at a home where I lived. It was kissing and petting and not sexual intercourse, but it was wrong. This behavior occurred several times over the next few years,” he said.

The Gateway Church was founded by Morris in 2000 after the sexual assault. The church has more than 100,000 weekly attendees.

Morriss’ description of his 12-year-old victim as a “young lady” was echoed by Clemishire himself in comments to the Christian Post.

“I was 12 years old. I was a little girl. A very innocent little girl. And he was brought into our house. He and his wife Debbie and their little son Josh trusted and preached in church that my father

“I helped get it started and then started preparing us all for it. As an adult, it took me decades to understand that,” she says.

Morris abused his victim for more than four years. Clemishire said it took years for her to understand that she had been raped.

“He says there was no sexual intercourse, but he touched every part of my body and inserted his fingers inside me, which I now understand is considered a form of rape by instrumental intervention. I was an innocent 12-year-old girl who knew nothing about sexual behavior,” she said.

In his statement, Clemishire praised Morris for living “in purity and responsibility” since resigning from the ministry after being caught sexually abusing a child. He claimed his victim’s family forgave him at a meeting in 1989 and gave him their blessing to return to the ministry, although Clemishire denied this, saying her father told Morris he was lucky he didn’t “kill” him.

“In March 1987, this situation was brought to light, and I confessed and repented. I submitted myself to the elders of Shady Grove Church and the young lady’s father,” he said. “They asked me to resign from the ministry and accept counseling and freedom ministry, which I did. Since that time, I have led a purity and responsibility in this area.”
