Entertaining events in the base gardens: gamelan show and garden games

Grassroots gardens are perfect for enjoying the outdoors and all that Mother Nature has to offer. While most Grassrootes Gardens outings are simply “visits to the 104 WNY gardens”, certain events take place which are more orchestrated in nature. During the month of June, the community is invited to participate in some entertaining events.

The first event is a show and a concert of Indonesian puppets Grassroots Gamelan, Saturday June 8, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Lombard Clark community garden. The free, all-ages event will feature live music and a puppet-making table.

“We are incredibly excited to play our first performance in the diverse Broadway Fillmore neighborhood,” said Matt Dunning, Executive Director of Nusantara Arts. “Nusantara Arts offers a truly world class show in the neighborhood, with invited artists from Indonesia like Midieuxo and Wakidi. The idea of Grassroots Gamelan is to activate the community and activate these very special community spaces of Grassroots Gardens which are found everywhere in the city. The show will be big and fun. We have been working on this very special production for two months and it will be an event not to be missed!
