Marion County dean arrested, charged with sex crimes against students – WFTV

MARION COUNTY, Fla. – Ocala police said a high school dean was arrested for alleged sex crimes against students.

On Friday, detectives arrested 42-year-old Gregory Ramputi on multiple charges of lewd and illicit sexual activity with a minor.

Ramputi was the dean of Vanguard High School and, according to police, held a position of authority over the victims.

Investigators said a high school student reported earlier this month that Ramputi had had inappropriate contact with her and other students while at school.

According to police reports, the students also stated that Ramputi touched them several times, asked them to expose themselves, asked for photos and performed sexual acts with one of the victims.

Ocala police said he was also charged with indecent touching of a minor and possession of child pornography.

Ramputi no longer works for the school district.

A spokesperson for Marion County Public Schools issued the following statement:

Regarding the arrest of Gregory Ramputi, Marion County Public Schools continues to cooperate with the Ocala Police Department and their investigation.

Ramputi started at MCPS in 2014 as a teacher at North Marion Middle School. He transferred to Vanguard High School in 2015 and became the director of student services there in 2021. During his time at MCPS, he received no reprimands or disciplinary actions.

Mr. Ramputi no longer works for Marion County Public Schools.

Below is a statement from the Ocala Police Department:

This is an alarming reminder that even some people in positions of power and trust can be corruptible, and it is a powerful incentive to remain vigilant and ensure that those in authority are held accountable for their actions. Student safety is our top priority and we have zero tolerance for this gross misconduct. We commend the students who had the courage to report this behavior. We ask that anyone who has experienced similar behavior from Mr. Ramputi report it immediately to law enforcement.
