Buffalo AKG cuts parking fees as construction begins

The Buffalo AKG Art Museum announced Thursday that it has reduced parking fees for its underground garage.

It will now cost non-members $12 to park in the lot for three hours, compared to the $20 for two hours the museum has charged since it opened last summer. Each additional hour costs $2.

The price for museum members remains unchanged at $8 for three hours.

Museum officials announced the change, which is permanent, as the city of Buffalo prepares to make improvements in and around the museum campus.

Parking hours will also be changed this summer to align with Shakespeare performances at Delaware Park.

During the work, no pedestrian access will be authorized within the perimeter of the site fence.

“The ongoing city work will not interrupt or disrupt Buffalo AKG’s planned summer programming, including the Lipsey Summer Jazz Series or use of the East Patio of the Seymour H. Knox Building,” officials said in a statement. Press release.

Subsequently, there will be new trees, new and resurfaced asphalt pathways, lawn restoration, park lighting, street and right-of-way improvements, new accessible parking spaces and bike racks.
