UB Football extends its scholarship offer to Jonathan Rousseau

Could another Rousseau possibly play football in the Buffalo area?

It’s too early to say the same at the NFL level, but the odds may have increased at the college level. Jonathan Rousseau, the younger brother of Bills edge rusher Greg Rousseau, announced on his social media platforms Wednesday that he has received a scholarship offer from the University at Buffalo.

Greg Rousseau quickly reposted it on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, with the eyes open emoji.

Jonathan Rousseau is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound defensive back/safety who will be a senior this fall at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. According to MaxPreps.com, he had 40 tackles in 13 games. this season at Cardinal Gibbons.

Although he has yet to receive a recruiting ranking from any of the three online recruiting services (Rivals, 247Sports, On3), Rousseau already appears to have his pick of scholarship offers.

The early signing period for 2025 incoming freshmen is scheduled for December 4-6. UB has one player committed to its 2025 class: Michael Gelatko, a tight end from Marian Catholic in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania.

Greg Rousseau knows a thing or two about the recruiting process and about Buffalo. Rousseau’s parents lived in Buffalo in the early 1990s. He played college football at Miami (Fla.) and is entering his fourth season with the Bills after being selected in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.
