Saturday Preliminaries Heatsheet

The final preliminary session of the 2024 Atlanta Classic will include heats of the women’s and men’s 100 backstroke, 200 breaststroke, 200 individual medley and 50 freestyle. The 800 freestyle timed finals will also be contested, with the fastest heats swimming with tonight’s finals.

In the women’s 100 backstroke, champion of the 200 backstroke last night Phoebe Bacon from Wisconsin holds the top seed for champions of over 100 flies, Josephine Fuller of Tennessee. Aidan Stoffle of Auburn earns top seed in men’s 100 back, leading to 200 back champ Jack Aikins from Virginia and Poland Kacper Stokowski from NC State. Ireland Mona McSharry of Tennessee holds the top seed in the women’s 200 breaststroke after winning the 100 breaststroke earlier in this meet. Meanwhile, Lithuania Aleksas Savickas of Florida leads the internationally packed men’s 200 breaststroke.

In the women’s 200 individual medley, Bacon and Fuller are expected to swim side by side in the final heat, with the Florida athlete Izzy Ivey also a big contender for the final. Florida freestyler Kieran Smith comes in as the top seed in the men’s 200 individual medley preliminaries, looking to add another win to his 200 freestyle victory last night. Erika Connolly of Tennessee holds another preliminary seed in the 50 freestyle, but will have Catie DeLoof behind her after stealing the 100 free victory against Connolly in Thursday’s final. that of Florida Caeleb Dressel is next set to headline the men’s 50 freestyle, tied with his training partner Alberto Mestre of Venezuela for the top seed.
