ATLANTA, GA — Atlanta is ranked among the 10 worst U.S. cities to drive in, thanks in part to congestion, rush hour traffic and other factors, according to a new ranking from Forbes.

To determine the worst cities to drive in, Forbes Advisor compared the 47 most populous U.S. cities with available data on 15 metrics covering four key categories: driving experience, safety, cost of car ownership and access to car maintenance.

Metrics included hours lost in traffic jams, travel time, average rush hour speed, fatal car crashes and much more.

Among the 10 worst cities, Atlanta ranks 8th, according to the rankings. Out of a possible score of 100, Atlanta scored 84.87.

Forbes Advisor determined the city’s overall score by assigning each metric a certain number of points. The higher the score, the worse the driving in a specific city.

Meanwhile, Boston ranked worst for driving experience, while Albuquerque was the worst city for driver safety. New York City was the most expensive city to own a car, and Memphis drivers had the worst access to car maintenance.
