A car from Michael Jordan’s extraordinary collection is up for sale, and it’s one of the rarest models in the world.

Michael Jordan is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time, having dazzled fans with his skills over the course of 15 seasons in the NBA.

As you might expect for someone who won six NBA championships, was named NBA MVP five times, and launched the best-selling sneaker of all time with Nike, Jordan earned quite a fortune during his career.

Jordan has spent some of his estimated £1.52 billion fortune on cars, and one of the vehicles he previously owned is now up for sale.

A 2007 Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren 722 Edition that belonged to Jordan is being sold by Miami-based car dealership TBTFW.

Back when Mercedes and McLaren were working together, they teamed up to produce a hot rod car based on the legendary 300 SLR Uhlenhaut coupe.

The resulting McLaren SLR combined sophisticated design with luxurious comfort and high-level performance, helping to redefine what a supercar was.

Several variants of the car were produced, but the 722 edition – owned by Jordan – was the rarest.

Named after the 300 SLR that Stirling Moss and Denis Jenkinson drove to victory in the 1955 Mille Miglia – which was referred to as the ‘722’ because of its early start time – the car featured a modified engine, uprated suspension, revised aerodynamics and larger wheels.

The car features a reworked 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine, which produces 641 horsepower and 606 lb-ft of torque, a notable jump from the 617 horsepower and 575 lb-ft of torque produced by the standard version.

Only 150 examples of the 722 edition of the car were made, making it one of the rarest and most desirable cars in the world.

Jordan’s McLaren SLR is finished in Crystal Antimon Grey Metallic and rides on a set of brushed Ankry wheels that offer a glimpse of red brake calipers.

The interior is covered in black leather and Alcantara with red contrast stitching, a reference to Jordan’s time with the Bulls.

TBTFW is asking $649,995 for the vehicle, well above the $480,000 the car cost new.
