Dog dies after attack by loose dog in South Hadley

SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – The South Hadley Health Department is investigating after a dog killed another dog on Tuesday.

According to South Hadley Police Chief Jennifer Gundersen, officers were called to Pychon Road on Tuesday for a report of a dog attack. The dog had escaped from the family’s yard by crawling under the fence and attacked another dog that was being walked by its owner.

The other dog eventually succumbed to his injuries from the attack.

The South Hadley Health Department oversees animal control and will lead the investigation into the incident. Chief Gundersen said the offending dog is currently quarantined until animal control can further investigate the attack.

22News contacted South Hadley Animal Control for more information but did not receive a response as of Wednesday afternoon.
