2 dead, 4 injured in accident in Mason County, KY

MASON COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – Kentucky police are investigating a fatal crash in Mason County.

An investigation revealed that 84-year-old Robert Figgins of Brooksville was driving a Chevrolet Trailblazer west on AA Highway when he struck 18-year-old Clyde Blackburn III of Germantown, who was driving a Buick Century, authorities said.


After that initial impact, Blackburn’s car crossed into the eastbound lanes, where it collided with a Nissan Sentra driven by Rebekah Lytle, 22, of Brooksville, according to KSP.

Police said Figgins and Lytle were taken to Meadowview Hospital for treatment of their injuries. Blackburn and a juvenile passenger who was in Lytle’s car were flown by helicopter to the University of Cincinnati.

Kayla Justice, 33, who was a passenger in Lytle’s car, and Elizabeth Blackburn, 20, who was also in Blackburn’s car, were both pronounced dead by the Mason County coroner, a news release said.

According to KSP, the investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
