North Tonawanda man arraigned on charges of fatally stabbing someone outside a Kenmore Ave apartment building.

NORTH TONAWANDA, NY — A 28-year-old North Tonawanda man accused of fatally stabbing someone in September 2023 was arraigned Friday in Buffalo City Court.

John A. Rudes fatally stabbed a 59-year-old man outside an apartment building in the 100 block of Kenmore Avenue. Buffalo Police officers who responded to the scene found the victim on the front porch with multiple stab wounds to his neck and upper chest. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Rudes was charged with intentionally causing the victim’s death and was arraigned on one count of second-degree murder.

He is being held without bail and is due back in court on Wednesday, June 5. If convicted of the highest charge, he would face a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.
