Beaver Island Parkway Bridge reopens ahead of holiday weekend

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Beaver Island Parkway Bridge will reopen following an $8.3 million replacement project last year, Gov. Kathy Hochul announced Friday.

The Grand Island Bridge spanning I-190 has been replaced with a new concrete driving surface, new guide rails, new line layout, wider travel lanes and emergency shoulders .

“Replacing the Beaver Island Parkway Bridge is one of many infrastructure investments in Western New York aimed at improving our transportation system and providing safe, reliable roads and bridges for decades to come,” Hochul said in a statement.

Each year, approximately 300,000 people visit Beaver Island State Park.
