DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – A Mt. Zion teenager is in the hospital after a two-vehicle crash Friday night.

It happened Friday night around 11:15 p.m. in the 2500 block of North 22nd Street.

Decatur police say the teen was riding a motorcycle south and a Chevy Cobalt was heading north. As the car turned left into a parking lot, the two collided.

The driver of the motorcycle, a 16-year-old from Mt. Zion, was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. They were taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, 63-year-old Karen Boehm of Decatur, was also taken to the hospital and toxicology reports show there were methamphetamines and amphetamines in Boehm’s system.

Decatur police arrested her and she is facing several charges, including aggravated driving under the influence resulting in serious bodily injury and driving with a revoked license.

The police are still investigating.
