A West Palm Beach man has been arrested and accused of leaving his young daughter in a hot car for 31 minutes

A West Palm Beach man was arrested after he allegedly left his 3-year-old daughter in a hot car for more than 30 minutes Saturday afternoon. Raul Rielo Fernandez was charged with two counts of child neglect: “The outside temperature was 92 degrees.” . The humidity was about 87%,” said Mike Jachles, public information officer for the West Palm Beach Police Department. “It was determined that she was in the car for approximately 31 minutes.” Experts estimate that the temperature inside the car may have exceeded 140 degrees. Jachles said a good Samaritan discovered the girl in the car in the parking lot of a Sam’s Club on 45th Street. The woman opened the unlocked car door and pulled the girl out. “She was sweating profusely,” Jachles said. “She was red, flushed and crying.” Police said Fernandez ran back to the car shortly after his daughter was taken out. Investigators said he told them he was in the store buying a gift for Mother’s Day and forgot his daughter was there. “It wasn’t like he ran into the store and left the child in the car said Jachles. “He simply forgot that he had the child with him.” The girl was taken to hospital for an examination. She remained unhurt. Fernandez was immediately taken into custody. “The most important thing is that my daughter is okay,” Fernandez told police when he was arrested. “What happens to me doesn’t matter. I am grateful that you acted quickly. “Fernandez is now out on bail while his case progresses.

Police said Fernandez ran back to the car shortly after pulling his daughter out.

Investigators said he told them he was at the store buying a gift for Mother’s Day and forgot his daughter was with him.

“It wasn’t like he was going to run into the store and leave the child in the car,” Jachles said. “He just forgot he had the child with him.”

The girl was taken to hospital for examination.

She remained unhurt.

Fernandez was immediately arrested.

“The most important thing is that my daughter is okay,” Fernandez told police when he was arrested. “What happens to me doesn’t matter. I’m grateful you acted quickly.”

Fernandez is now out on bail as his case progresses.
