Man allegedly broke into house in Winter Park and “touched” sleeping children

WINTER PARK, Florida. – An Orange County man was arrested earlier this month after he was caught “touching” sleeping children at a Winter Park home, according to a police report.

In an affidavit, police said they were called to the home shortly after 12:30 a.m. on September 8 after receiving reports of the man in the house.

Upon arrival, a woman told an officer that the man was inside and touching her children, and police then searched the building, the affidavit states. However, no suspect was found at that time.

The mother later told police that she had been working as an Uber driver immediately before the incident and that a friend had informed her that he had seen the man in her home “touching the children and taking pictures,” according to investigators.

The mother then called the police and drove straight home, police said.

Before the mother got home, however, she watched videos from her home cameras and found her neighbor, 39-year-old David Andrew Ogden, sitting on her bed taking photos of one of her children and “rubbing her legs,” investigators reported.

“(The mother) believes (Ogden) entered through the main door after unlocking it through the mail slot,” the affidavit states.

According to police, the mother had known Ogden for about five years as a personal trainer at a YMCA.

While officers were still in the house, Ogden reportedly sent the mother the following text messages:

“Hey, seriously, Saturday if you have to work. I like to entertain the kids. Goodnight. I know you’re probably asleep. But my girls had a blast with yours.”

“So, a little drunk watching Umbrella Academy. Lol. But it was really great to see how much fun my girls had. They fell asleep right before bed. Lol.”

At the time of the incident, Ogden was caught on home cameras using a cellphone to film the children, rubbing the leg of one of them and pulling down the underwear of another, police said. Officers added that Ogden was also seen exposing his genitals and touching himself while sniffing one of the children.

About an hour later, police arrived at Ogden’s home and immediately attempted to handcuff him, but Ogden resisted, the affidavit states. Despite the resistance, Ogden was eventually arrested and his wife turned over his cellphone to police as evidence.

The following allegations are now being made against Ogden:

  • Lewd or lascivious molestation of a victim under 12 years of age (2 counts)

  • Indecent or lascivious exposure (3 counts)

  • Resistance against the police without violence

  • Burglary with bodily harm

Ogden is being held without bail on the charges. He entered a not guilty plea on September 17.
