In response to an airstrike on the town of Jinta in Baalbek in eastern Lebanon, Hezbollah attacked Israeli artillery positions with rockets.

In response to the attack, militants bombarded Israeli artillery positions in al-Zaoura in the occupied Syrian Golan Heights with dozens of Katyusha rockets, Hezbollah said in a statement on Wednesday, the Xinhua news agency reported.

Lebanese military sources told Xinhua that the Lebanese army monitored the launch of about 30 surface-to-surface missiles from the Lebanese side at Israel, and some of them were intercepted by Israeli Iron Dome missiles.

According to the sources, the Israeli army attacked three villages in the eastern part of southern Lebanon, including Tayr Harfa, Kafr Kila and Markaba, with drones and warplanes on Wednesday and attacked 11 towns and villages with 45 artillery shells.

Tensions along the Lebanese-Israeli border escalated on October 8, 2023, after Hezbollah launched a rocket attack on Israel in solidarity with Hamas’ attack on Israel on October 7. Israel retaliated with heavy artillery fire toward southeast Lebanon.
