Bills WR Keon Coleman explains why he can’t play golf with Josh Allen

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Keon Coleman recently shared some insight into his relationship with quarterback Josh Allen, humorously revealing why they can’t connect over golf. In an interview with CBS Sports analyst (and Florida State alum) Bryant McFadden, Coleman explained the dynamics of their relationship as they head into training camp.

When asked about their communication, Coleman said, “We text every now and then, but he’s really busy being QB1, he’s got other things going on, and he also likes to play golf.” Coleman was quick to point out Allen’s impressive golf skills, noting, “He really plays golf, he shot 70 or something.” Allen’s skills on the course led Coleman to end the conversation by saying, “I don’t play golf with you. We can’t bond over that.”

Despite their different golf skills, Coleman suggested another way to bond, saying, “We should throw rocks on the lake or something.” It’s a change of plans for Coleman, who had previously said he would use golf as a way to bond with his signal-caller. To be fair, the rookie has long talked about his average golf skills, describing himself as “Tiger Wish He Could” during his pre-draft meeting with Buffalo executives.

While golf isn’t their shared pursuit, Coleman and Allen have spent the offseason developing their relationship, with the quarterback already saying his teammate has “the tools” to be a productive receiver at the professional level. They’re not working on their chemistry right now, though, as Allen is playing golf. He’s set to compete in the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament this weekend.
