Suspected drunk driver arrested for speeding more than 105 mph on Houston toll road |  Texas

Houston, Texas – A suspected drunk driver was arrested after being caught speeding more than 105 mph on the S. Sam Houston Tollway E., authorities said.

On June 30, 2024, toll road deputies from Constable Jerry Garcia’s office observed a vehicle traveling 105 mph in a 65 mph zone, according to a department news release. Deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 9200 block of S. Sam Houston E Turnpike.

During the stop, the driver exhibited several signs of intoxication, leading officers to conduct a DUI investigation. Standardized field sobriety tests confirmed the driver was impaired, police said.

The driver, identified as Roderick D. Hunter, 59, was arrested and taken into custody at the Harris County Joint Processing Center for drunken driving.
