A three-year-old child was shot and killed at a family graduation party in Buffalo while playing with his tricycle outside.

Ramone Carter was riding his tricycle Friday night and was with his sister Jamiah, 7, when they were both shot to death during a family gathering. Both siblings were rushed to hospital – with Ramone sadly dying from his injuries.

Family members and anti-violence organizations gathered Saturday to honor the young life senselessly taken. Martina Carter, the victim’s sister, said, “I know we’ve been through a lot of tragedy, but I never thought a three-year-old baby playing outside at a graduation party would misfire, would be shot and killed.”

Ramone was described by his family as cheerful and full of joy. Martina added, “He loved the Buffalo Bills. He always talked about wanting to play football.”

Carlanda Meadors, communications director for Most Valuable Parents (MVP), said the situation is hitting those who are active in the community. MVP is a Buffalo community outreach organization that addresses issues affecting the city with the goal of making it a safer place to live.
