Luke Williams, Chadwick Tromp enter lineup for series finale against Cubs

The Atlanta Braves and Chicago Cubs are let the children play Today.

A day after the Braves got a Dominant all-around game from left-hander Max Friedwho defeated Cy Young finalist Justin Steele in Atlnata’s 9-1 victory, both teams send promising young arms to the mound for the series finale.

Atlanta called best hope AJ Smith Shawver for his first MLB action in 2024, as Chicago strikes back with the 24-year-old Ben Brown (1-1, 3.57).

Here’s how Atlanta will line up for the contest:

RF Ronald Acuna Jr.
2B Ozzie Albies
DH Marcell Ozuna
1B Matt Olson
SSOrlando Arcia
CF Michael Harris II
LF Jarred Kelenic
C Chadwick Tromp
3B Luc Williams

Smith-Shawver, 21, makes his first MLB appearance in 2024 against a team he knows in Chicago: his last start in 2023 was against them at Truist Park, going 3.2 hitless innings with one run scored on a walk, striking out two. Due to turnover in Chicago, only ten total ABs remain on the 2024 roster for this game.

Here is the Cubs lineup:

LF Mike Tauchman
RF Seiya Suzuki
Cody Bellinger
3B Christophe Morel
DH Ian Happ
2B Nico Hoerner
1B Michael Busch
SSDansby Swanson
C Yan Gomes

Brown, who was recalled this season, never started against Atlanta, but he faced them as a reliever in last week’s series: he went two innings with one run allowed on four hits, in striking out three with no walks. The run was scored by Orlando Arcia, who doubled, thanks to a double from Zack Short line.

The Toddy Series Finale is a one-day game scheduled for a 2:20 p.m. ET first pitch. It airs on Bally Sports South and Marquee Network, with those not in the market having the game on MLB.tv.

If you prefer to just listen, the Cubs radio broadcast is available on 670 The Score and WRTO 1200 while the Atlanta Braves Radio Network carries the standard broadcast on 680 AM/93.7 FM The Fan and its affiliates throughout the land of the Brave.
