Man shot outside tobacco shop in Durham

DURHAM, N.C – Police are searching for a shooter after a man was killed in Durham on Tuesday evening.

According to Durham police, the shooting occurred in the 1500 block of Guess Road around 8:30 p.m.

Police said they found a man shot in the parking lot of a tobacco shop north of downtown. He died at the scene.

Police believe the man was shot in the parking lot. Over 20 evidence markers were placed at the crime scene.

Broadcastify’s traffic shows what happened when police arrived:

“Police to emergency services. We’re at Walltown Tobacco. A man in his late 20s has a gunshot wound to the head. About a minute ago the pulse was back to normal. I’m still doing CPR.”

The latest shooting data from the Durham Police Department on Saturday shows that fewer people were murdered but more people were shot in Durham in 2024. At least 88 people have been shot so far this year, compared to 70 shootings in mid-May last year. At least 16 people were killed by gunfire.

Durham police did not release the victim’s name or any information about the arrests.

The investigation is ongoing.
