More storms expected in the Houston area today Friday

The threat of rain and thunderstorms returns to the weather forecast through Friday.

The Weather Channel’s Terri Smith tells us the action will begin this afternoon, with the heaviest rain falling this evening and into Friday night. Flooding will be possible. According to Space City Weather, the most favored region for the heaviest rain will be north of Interstate 10, and likely in Montgomery County and north. These inland areas are expected to see 1 to 3 inches of precipitation, with higher bubbles of 5 inches possible for some locations. Closer to the coast, south of Interstate 10, accumulations should be less. My biggest concern is the rivers as flooding continues along the Trinity, East Fork San Jacinto and Lower Brazos basins.

You can track power outages HERE.

Rain and thunderstorms will be more scattered Friday before fading from here. And the next chance of rain won’t arrive until the middle of next week.
