After rocketing to fame this summer with hits like “Good Luck, Babe!” and “HOT TO GO!”, Roan earned multiple nominations at the 2024 MTV VMAs.

At the awards show, she won her first VMA for Best New Artist, beating out Tyla, Benson Boone, Gracie Abrams and other stars in the category.

During his concerts, Roan frequently thanked his mother, Kara Amstutz.

On TikTok, a fan posted a video of Roan singing to his mom while she performed on stage. Then, in another clip, Roan happily shared with his fans some dating advice his mom once gave him.

“You can’t sleep with them until the third date. You can’t wear red lipstick because it says something,” she said during one of her performances, imitating her mother.

“…And I just say, ‘Mom, I love you. But it doesn’t work like that when you’re dating a girl.'”

On TikTok, fans praised Roan’s relationship with his mother.

“I can’t imagine how happy it must make her to have her mom at her shows 💖,” one person said.

Another said: “Her mother must be fighting back tears because I am! She is magical ✨.”

A third added: “I’m crying because her mother must be so proud to see her daughter become such an icon.”

Roan also sent a message to her mother on Instagram. For Mother’s Day 2023, she shared a few photos of them together and captioned it: “Happy Mother’s Day to my sweet angel of a mother, I love you so much.”

Just like his mother, Roan also has a close relationship with his father.

In 2022, she thanked him for letting her dazzle on his dirt bike for a “Femininomenon” photoshoot she did in his backyard.

“Thank you to my sweet dad who let me spruce up his dirt bike. 💖,” she wrote. “Femininomenon was so much fun to create. I’m so grateful to my friends who helped me make it happen once again. Who flew all the way to Missouri to shoot in my parents’ backyard.”

However, Roan made it clear that his rise to fame was also difficult for his parents.

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Roan opened up about her sudden success. She revealed that she was stalked by someone who showed up at her parents’ house unannounced and followed her to her hotel room. She also said that someone once leaked her father’s home number.

“So now I have to provide security,” she said. “It really sucks.”
