Man arrested after threatening parents with gun, clash with SWAT in southwest Houston

A man was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff with SWAT after he allegedly threatened his parents with a gun in their southwest Houston townhouse.

Officers responded to the scene in the 12400 block of Brookglade Circle around 3:30 p.m. after a suspect allegedly pulled out a gun and threatened his father. Upon arrival, officers were able to safely remove the suspect’s mother and father from the apartment.

The suspect, who was living in the townhouse’s garage, refused to come out when officers tried to contact him. Officers then obtained a search and arrest warrant, suspecting he was armed.

SWAT was called to the scene and made several attempts to convince the suspect to surrender, but he continued to refuse. After several attempts, SWAT forced entry into the garage and used tear gas. The suspect then jumped out from under the garage door and onto the roof of the garages, running around with a gun in his hand.

At one point, he climbed onto the roof of the two-story townhouses. Officers deployed a Taser, a 40mm round and stun grenades, eventually cornering the suspect in a garage and taking him into custody. A pistol was later found in another garage.

The confrontation ended around midnight and the suspect is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
