“Be Right Back Bandit” robs a bank and is still at large

HOUSTON (KIAH) – The FBI Houston Violent Crimes Task Force is asking for the public’s help in identifying and locating a man nicknamed the “Be Right Back Bandit” who committed a robbery in northwest Houston.

Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the thief. This occurred at the Frost Bank located at 13191 Northwest Freeway in Houston on Friday, June 7, 2024. At approximately 2:30 p.m. during the robbery, the suspect entered the bank and approached a teller to ask if he could open an account. When the suspect was asked for his identification, the person replied, “I’ll be right back.”


FBI agents in Houston say the suspect walked back toward the front door of the bank. At the front door, the suspect confronted a security guard, turned while pulling out a gun, ran toward the bank teller and demanded money. The suspect then fled on foot southbound on Hollister Road with an undisclosed amount of cash. No one was physically injured during the theft.

The thief is described as a black man in his thirties, approximately 5’10” tall, with a medium build and a beard. During the robbery, he was wearing a beige hooded sweatshirt, black basketball shorts and a black medical mask.
