Buffalo Zoo Launches New Show: Canine Champions for Conservation

Buffalo Zoo Launches New Show: Canine Champions for Conservation

Different types of dog shows are popular on television, although it’s not every day that dog lovers can attend them in person. But that’s all about to change, thanks to the production efforts of the Buffalo Zoo and Stunt Dog Productions, who are currently showing a new dog-centric exhibit throughout the summer.

What’s most unusual about this show is that not only are the featured dogs “rescues,” but they also help tell the story of the importance of wildlife conservation, hence the catchy title “Canine Champions for Conservation”.

This show succinctly demonstrates our collective love for all animals, whether in the wild, at the zoo, or at home as part of the family unit.

Trainers and trained dogs have been vetted by Buffalo Zoo’s diligent animal care, health and welfare teams. These teams ensure compliance with all protocols, guaranteeing the health and safety of animals and the public.

This brand new interactive show, included with entry to the Zoo, presents:

  • A remarkable range of rescue dogs: Witness the incredible abilities of these canine companions as they perform impressive stunts, agility courses, and impressive routines that showcase their athleticism and charm.
  • Education through entertainment: Learn how dogs play a vital role in conservation efforts around the world, from protecting endangered species to detecting illegal wildlife trafficking, and even helping wildlife right here in New York.
  • Meet and Greet Opportunities: After the show, get up close and personal with these furry heroes! Guests can interact with the dogs and their trainers, and even learn about responsible pet ownership and adoption. This connection provides a memorable experience and fosters a deeper appreciation of the bond between humans and animals.

“We are excited to introduce Canine Champions for Conservation to the Buffalo community,” says Lisa Smith, president and CEO of the Buffalo Zoo. “This show is a perfect blend of entertainment and education, allowing us to celebrate the incredible bond between humans and dogs while inspiring action to protect our planet’s wildlife.”

Canine Champions for Conservation is set to perform on the new Center Stage at the Buffalo Zoo. Hours are Wednesday to Monday at 11:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. There are no shows on Tuesday.
