The family of the Texas lawyer shot dead by an outraged customer at McDonald’s said they were not surprised he stood up for the “little guy.”

Jeffrey Limmer, 46, intervened when a customer began yelling at McDonald’s employees at the store at 8147 Katy Freeway, Houston, at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Limmer tried to calm the man down, and then as they argued outside the store, the angry man went to his car, pulled out a gun and shot the lawyer twice.

The shooter then fled the scene in an early 2000s blue Ford pickup. The police are still looking for the murderer.

“He always just wanted to fight for the little guy and do the right thing,” Limmer’s sister Jennifer Thomas told ABC7.

“He was just very steadfast in his beliefs and conservative in his values and morals,” she added.

He worked as an attorney at the local law firm of Lewis Brisbois after attending the University of Texas and then completing law school at the South Texas College of Law.

According to Thomas, Limmer lived near McDonald’s and went there often. She thinks he probably went to the fast food chain to run something.

She said he’s tried to help others his entire career, so she wasn’t surprised to hear he tried to help employees.

“Knowing Jeff, he’s the one who always says, ‘Calm down. “It’s not that big of a deal” and deflect the situation,” she said.

Houston police responded to reports of a shooting at a McDonald’s Saturday evening.

A customer at the restaurant was angry about his order and began yelling at employees, investigators told ABC7.

Limmer tried to calm the customer and diverted his attention from the staff.

Limmer then ran back to the McDonald’s, where employees called paramedics.

His heartbroken sister said he was a “good Samaritan trying to do the right thing and not let the McDonald’s employees go through this.”

His friend Greg Monteverde told Fox26: “Using profanities and other profanities, Jeff intervened to de-escalate the situation and calm him down. “I thought it was brave. I respect it.’

He added: “He’s in heaven. “He’s looking down on all of us and saying everything’s going to be okay.”

The suspect has not yet been identified. DailyMail.com contacted Houston police.
