Man charged with murder after March crash that left two dead

Buffalo, New York (WBEN) – A Buffalo man now faces two murder charges two months after he recklessly caused a car crash on Main Street at Humboldt Parkway that killed two people and injured two others.

Devin Ford, 23, was arraigned Wednesday last week before State Supreme Court Justice Paul Wojtaszek on an indictment charging him with the following offenses:

– Two counts of second degree murder (class “AI” offenses);
– Two counts of second-degree manslaughter (class “C” misdemeanors);
– One count of first-degree assault (class “B” violent felony);
– One count of second-degree assault (class “D” violent felony);
– One count of third-degree assault (class “A” misdemeanor).

It is alleged that on Thursday, March 21 at approximately 12:15 a.m. ET, the defendant was operating a vehicle at a high speed northbound on Main Street in the City of Buffalo when he caused a collision with another vehicle at the intersection. from Humboldt Parkway. Ford was allegedly driving the vehicle without its headlights activated at the time of the crash.

The defendant, who was the sole occupant of his vehicle, was placed under guard as he attempted to exit the vehicle through the front passenger door. He was transported to Erie County Medical Center for evaluation.

The four occupants of the other vehicle, a Lyft transporting three people from out of town to their Airbnb, were taken by ambulance to ECMC.

Ford is accused of engaging in reckless driving that created a serious risk of death to another person under circumstances demonstrating a depraved indifference to human life, resulting in the death of the driver – Nasir Musazada, 27 years old, from Buffalo – and back. driver’s side passenger – Morgan Ehrenbeit, 26, of Ohio. Both victims died in hospital.

The defendant is also charged with engaging in reckless driving that created a serious risk of death to another person and thereby caused serious physical injury to another rear-seat passenger. The victim, a 31-year-old man from Ohio, was hospitalized with serious injuries.

The front passenger, another 31-year-old man from Ohio, was treated for spinal and rib injuries and released from the hospital.

Ford is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday, May 29 at 9:30 a.m. ET for a pretrial conference. He remains held without bail.

A temporary protection order issued on behalf of the surviving victims remains in effect.

If convicted of the more serious charges, Ford faces a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison.
