Houston Rockets Guard Amen Thompson Named to NBA All-Rookie Second Team

HOUSTON (KIAH) — Rockets guard Amen Thompson was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team after a strong first season in Houston.

Thompson, the No. 3 pick in last year’s NBA draft, played in 62 games this season, averaging 9.5 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.26 steals per game. He became the fourth player in NBA history to reach those averages while playing less than 23 minutes per game.

He joins Dallas’ Dereck Lively II, Utah’s Keyonte George, Oklahoma City’s Cason Wallace and Memphis’ GG Jackson II as second-team All-Rookie selections. Jackson secured the final spot with one vote over Golden State’s Trayce Jackson-Davis.

San Antonio’s Victor Wembanyama was a unanimous choice for the All-Rookie First Team. He is joined by Chet Holmgren of Oklahoma City, Brandon Miller of Charlotte, Jaime Jaquez Jr. of Miami and Brandin Podziemski of Golden State.

Holmgren – the runner-up to Wembanyama in the rookie of the year race – was also a unanimous first-team pick.
