City of Houston opens resource centers

Cleanup continues today after severe storms hit Houston. More than 500,000 CenterPoint customers are still without power, and while they expect most outages to be restored by early next week, some of the heavily damaged areas will take several days.

Also this morning, Mayor John Whitmire announced that the city was opening resource centers to help Houstonians recover from the storm.

The centers are located in specific municipal neighborhoods where the needs are greatest. Each location will have ice and water and will serve as a drive-thru distribution center.
