An Alabama prisoner serving a life sentence for murder has been declared dead after being found in his cell.

The Jefferson County Coroner Medical Examiner’s Office said James Clark Jr., 55, was pronounced dead just before 7 a.m. May 12 at the William Donaldson Correctional Facility in the Bessemer area.

According to JCCMEO, Clark was in prison on a murder conviction in Coosa County.

The coroner’s office said there was no evidence of criminal activity related to the inmate’s death and that the final cause of death was pending laboratory testing.
