22-year-old rapes woman in Film Nagar, arrested after 36 hours

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old man was arrested by Hyderabad police on Wednesday, July 10, for raping a middle-aged woman.

The accused M. Kishore targeted the woman after he saw her standing alone at the Prashasannagar bus stop at 10 pm on July 7. The man approached the woman and offered to drop her to Secunderabad. After Kishore convinced the woman, she agreed to accompany him on his bike.

However, police said he instead took her to a remote place in Film Nagar and sexually assaulted her. The accused also stole Rs 1 lakh from her, snatched her mobile phone and fled the scene.

The victim then approached a police station in Hyderabad and lodged a complaint. Special teams were then formed to trace the rape allegation. The police identified Kishore and arrested him with the help of CCTV footage.

The stolen money and the mobile phone were confiscated from the defendant. He was then brought before the court and remanded in custody.

The police were praised for their quick investigation of the accused within 36 hours.

In another case of sexual assault, two accused, working as real estate agents, picked up their colleague near a hostel in Miyapur, claiming that they were going to visit a construction site in Yadagirigutta. However, on their way back to Hyderabad, they stopped the car near an under-construction building at around 10.30 pm, claiming that it had broken down, and raped her.

The accused initially offered the woman food, which she refused. They then offered her a soft drink and a sweet. Soon after, the woman became dizzy and passed out after eating more sweets. Taking advantage of her vulnerable position, the two vendors stripped her, touched her inappropriately, raped her and even beat her till 3 am on Monday, Hyderabad police said.
