Things to do in Atlanta this weekend:

Looking for something to do this weekend? You’ll find plenty of fun ways to spend time with mom, including a comedy show and brunch. You can also create your own lantern and participate in the Atlanta Beltline Parade, or just watch the festivities, if you prefer.

Downtown Atlanta

Sunday Funday Midtown Blooms

1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday May 12. Free, but register online to reserve your place. Atlanta Design Museum, 1315 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta. 404-979-6455.

Mark the block with your favorite floral design and make the sidewalks on both sides of Peachtree Street beautiful and colorful. Chalk is provided, but bring some from home to ensure you have all the colors you need.

Atlanta Cycling Festival: Family Time

2 p.m.-5 p.m. Sunday May 12. Wild Heaven West End, 1010 White St. SW, Atlanta.

Bring the kids for a short and easy family ride during this event, part of the Atlanta Cycling Festival. After the ride, games and activities will be set up for children at Wild Heaven.

Atlanta Belt Lantern Parade

Parade programming begins at 7:45 p.m., parade begins at 8:45 p.m., final parade jam session from 9:15 p.m. to 10 p.m. The parade begins at Adair Park 1, 742 Catherine St. SW, Atlanta. The jam session takes place at Lee+White, 929 Lee St. SW, 1070 White St. SW No. 1000, Atlanta.

Watch or participate in the parade of lanterns and live bands lighting up the Beltline corridor. Pre-event activities include a free lantern-making station.

Cobb

Adjust City 5K

6:30 a.m., package collection on race day and registration day; 7:30 a.m. Start of the 1-mile fun run; 8:00 a.m., departure in wheelchair; 8:05 a.m., start of the 5 km; 8:55 a.m. Early Trot; 9:15 a.m. Prize giving. Smoke on the lake barbecue festival

Come take part in a two-day festival with a concert on Friday evening and a barbecue competition on Saturday.

DeKalb

Fernbank after dark: the science of carnival

Learn about the science that goes on behind the scenes with after-hours access to exhibits, themed activities, music and more. Checkered Blue, a fun group of five, will perform.

Dunwoody Arts Festival

10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday May 11 and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday May 12. Free admission. Dunwoody Village Parkway and Dunwoody Village Shopping Center, 1317 Dunwoody Village Parkway, Dunwoody.

Participate in the annual Dunwoody Art Festival and discover the works of more than 130 artisans, a creative Kidz Zone and tasty festival foods.

‘Alice in Wonderland’
