On Monday, paramilitary illegal Israeli colonialists accompanied by soldiers attacked students and staff at the Arab al-Ka’abna elementary school in the Bedouin community of Arab al-Ka’abna in the al-Mo’arrajat area northwest of Jericho in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank, injuring at least seven Palestinians. They also attacked an elderly man near the school.

Local sources reported that the colonialists entered the Arab Bedouin community of al-Ka’abna in the al-Mo’arrajat area and attacked an elderly man.

They added that the paramilitary colonialists stormed the Arab al-Ka’abna elementary school and attacked several students and teachers before arresting them.

Palestinian Red Crescent (PRCS) medics treated the wounds of seven Palestinians, including children and teachers, before taking them to a hospital in Jericho. They also treated many children for anxiety attacks.

Hassan Mleihat, the general supervisor of the Al-Baidar Organization for the Defense of Bedouin Rights, told the Palestinian News and Information Agency (WAFA) that the colonialists attacked students and teachers, detained them in the school and also tied up the school principal.

Mleihat called on all international and local humanitarian organizations to immediately intervene in the emergency situation at the Arab al-Ka’abna school in the Arab al-Mleihat Bedouin community, as the situation has reached unprecedented levels of danger and escalation.

Arab Al-Ka’abna is one of many communities in Jericho that faces constant attacks by soldiers and paramilitary Israeli colonialists.

Last Friday, Israeli colonialists carried out numerous attacks on Palestinian citizens and their property. They poisoned sheep near Jericho, uprooted olive trees and destroyed an agricultural area near Jenin in the northeast and north of the occupied West Bank.

On Thursday evening, illegal paramilitary Israeli colonialists attacked Palestinian homes southeast of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.

The colonialists also attacked and injured two Palestinian farmers on their land in the village of Atouf, east of Tammoun, south of Tubas in the northeastern part of the occupied West Bank.

Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank, including those in occupied East Jerusalem and the surrounding area, are illegal under international law, the Fourth Geneva Convention and various United Nations and Security Council resolutions. They also constitute war crimes under international law.

Article 49 of the Fourth Geneva Convention states: “The occupying power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies.” It also prohibits “individual or mass transfers, as well as deportations of protected persons from occupied territory.”
