Northbound Highway 288 reopened after apparent loose wiring hazard in Yellowstone

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Traffic on Highway 288 toward downtown Houston resumed Tuesday after crews appeared to encounter a hazard on the roadway.

ABC13’s Elissa Rivas reported on Eyewitness News at 3 p.m. about the northbound closure of 288 between Holcombe and Macgregor, with traffic stopped from Holly Hall.

Houston TranStar previously announced a closure of southbound 288 at Yellowstone Boulevard, but that measure has been lifted.

SkyEye flew over the scene where police left the highway and drivers were diverted.

SkyEye also captured a pickup truck with a trailer and a semi-trailer stopped under an overpass, and several police officers were handling a cable strewn across the highway.

However, by 4 p.m. crews appeared to clear the hazard and the incoming highway was passable again.

Eyewitness News is still working to find out what exactly happened.
