Simmesport woman arrested for armed kidnapping and car theft in Alexandria

ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) – Alexandria Police reported that a Simmesport woman was arrested in Alexandria on Thursday, September 5.

According to APD, the woman was arrested following a series of crimes that all occurred Thursday morning.

The woman reportedly forced entry into a home in the 2100 block of Polk Street and fired a firearm. She then fled the home, stole a car in the 2100 block of White Street and forced a victim to drive to an ATM on Jackson Street.

The woman then exited the vehicle, walked to a parking lot in the 1400 block of MacArthur Drive, stole a second vehicle and forced the victim to leave the area.

APD said information from citizens helped officers locate and stop the vehicle.

Anais Brown, 27, of Simmesport was arrested and taken into custody. Brown was charged with three counts of aggravated kidnapping, burglary, illegal use of a weapon and illegal possession of a weapon.

Despite these incidents involving multiple victims in multiple locations, APD reported that Brown was arrested within 30 minutes.

The investigation is ongoing.
