Tornado Watch Issued for Multiple Houston Area Counties

HOUSTON – Southeast Texas saw several showers and thunderstorms move through this Mother’s Day.

The National Weather Service has now issued a tornado watch for Harris, Montgomery, Liberty, Waller, San Jacinto, Polk and Chambers counties until 7 p.m.

A Flood Watch is also in effect for our northern viewing area until 7 a.m. Monday.

The main weather threats will be large hail, strong wind gusts, the possibility of an isolated tornado and the threat of heavy rain which could lead to flooding.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing moms! Heavy rain and storms are likely later today and tomorrow. A flood watch is in effect until 7 a.m. Monday for Montgomery and all northern counties. We could see between 2 and 4 inches of rain and isolated areas could see over 6 inches. There is also a risk of strong to severe storms. The main weather threats are devastating wind gusts and large hail. The rain clears up on Tuesday, but heavier rain is expected on Thursday.
