More dangerous heat and still the tropics in sight

BATON ROUGE, Louisiana (WAFB) – We have another Heat Warning in effect from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday with heat index peaks reaching 115!

We have a FIRST WARNING today and possibly another tomorrow as dangerous heat continues. Otherwise, today will be partly cloudy with a 40 percent chance of showers/thunderstorms late in the day.

High temperatures and high humidity are expected to continue over the next few days. Some relief is possible on Wednesday with a higher chance of rain. As for the tropics, we can now breathe a little easier as computer models are predicting a double landfall of Beryl in Mexico, which will have little to no impact on the weather in Louisiana.

Tropical Storm Chris will move inland into Mexico without incident over the next 24 hours.

Major Hurricane Beryl is downgraded from Category 4 to Category 1 and will be downgraded to a tropical storm once it reaches the Gulf. As it continues to develop, the chance of rain will decrease somewhat around Independence Day and beyond.
