Gordon Ramsay throws first pitch in Boston after bicycle accident

Less than a month after being hospitalized following a bicycle accident, Gordon Ramsay took the mound to throw out the ceremonial first pitch!

The Boston Red Sox enlisted the help of the 57-year-old celebrity chef on Tuesday, June 25, when they faced the Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park.

Although the Red Sox ultimately lost 4-9, the star started the game with a lot of flair. He seemed to have fully recovered from his accident and threw an outstanding first pitch.

Wearing a custom “03” jersey, Ramsay waved to the crowd and then tossed the ball to final pitcher Liam Hendriks. Although his throw was a little high, it cleared the mound and Hendriks caught it with ease – and of course the crowd went wild.

The chef’s Boston visit came just over a week after he revealed he had a “really bad” bike accident – and said he was “lucky to be here.”

In a June 15 clip he shared on Instagram, Ramsay said the accident happened while he was biking in Connecticut. He said the incident left him “really shaken” and he was taken to a hospital for treatment.

“I’m in pain. It’s been a brutal week,” he added, showing off his badly bruised ribs. “And I’m getting through it somehow – but I can’t tell you how important it is to wear a helmet.”

In the caption, Ramsay elaborated, explaining that he “didn’t break any bones or sustain any major injuries,” but he was “a bit bruised” and “looked like a purple potato.”

Ramsay then reiterated that he was “grateful” to have worn a helmet that saved his life. “I don’t care how short the ride is,” he wrote. “I don’t care that these helmets cost money… they are essential. Even with children, even if it’s just a short ride, they have to wear a helmet.”

While in Boston, the Master Chef The star also stopped by Gordon Ramsay Burger — and brought food to local firefighters, according to his Instagram account. He also showed interest in another Boston sport: football.

Ramsay spent some time with both the Red Sox mascot, Wally the Green Monster, and the New England Patriots mascot, Pat Patriot, which the Patriots documented with an Instagram post.

The chef wished the Patriots well for the upcoming season and received recognition from team legend Tom Brady. “How did I do that @tombrady??” Ramsay commented on the Patriots’ post and Brady responded, “Looks good to me ❤️.”

Ramsay also posted a photo of himself making a heart shape with his hands during the Red Sox game on his Instagram stories and wrote: “🫶🏻 BOSTON.”
